The Future of A's Baseball

With a couple long thought out comments after the Buck entry, I came to wonder if you guys would like to submit your top 10 or 20 or 30 prospect list. I know before I made this blog I was still making prospect lists just for myself to look at so I'm sure a lot of you guys have lists of your own. If you're interested in sharing, whether it be just a ranking or a ranking with text, email me at with any information you'd like to include about yourself (name, screename whatever) to let it be known that it's your ranking. I'll begin posting your lists Novermber 1st.

  • Check out the link below and the format this guy uses. He takes all the major websites' prospect rankings and lists the prospects in order by their average ranking. If we could get 5 to 15 people to submit a top 60 prospect list it would be cool to see where each prospect would end up with diversified viewpoints. I think that would make an absolutely amazing chart to add to your site.

Thanks again for this prospect discussion forum.

  • If Nelson Cruz was still A's property, were would you slot him on your list & where would he be playing in 2006

  • I've never liked Cruz, but he'd have to be in the top 15 I'd say. He would probably play 2006 in Sacramento unless the A's would have been comfortable with him starting in left.

  • If I can get 5-15 submissions then I'll send them in..Unless anybody wants to do that on their own.

  • god idea, I'm in. Probably will send it in a couple days or so, after a wedding wekend.

Right now I have about 27 guys with numbers and then three different tiers of other guys to watch, so how many prospects should make it? Guess I'll just make a top 50 or 60 and let you cull it.

  • The lists need to be sort of long for guys like Bynum who some might have in the top 30, but I have in the mid 50s. Creating a top 50 or 60 list shouldn't be too dificult for the die hard minor league fans we have supporting the A's. If you need help designing the chart in early November, I would definitely help. I don't think it would be very hard to do using Excel.

Bobby, what do you mean by sending them in? We wouldn't send the results anywhere, you could post a diary here with the results in November which resemble what that website did. I guess you could post the results on the message boards at AN or ESPN if you wanted, but it would be a project for your website.

  • I guess I misunderstood the link you gave.

  • didn't really have another place to post this.

I've been checking out how Javi Herrera has been doing down in the Venezuelan League, and have been using google to translate the site. This is how it translated what I think is a report of Herera robbing a home run:

to emphasize a great one it links of the capital central gardener, Javier Herrera, beheading what was quadrangular of Walter a Young in the fifth act.

  • 'Quadrangular', I like that

  • Alcohol may increase drowsiness and dizziness caused by Bontril. Do not crush, chew, or break the extended-release form Bontril XR. Swallow them whole. These tablets are specially formulated to release the medication slowly in the body.
